Dr. Edward Snyder was born and raised in Salem, Virginia. He attended Hampden-Sydney College and graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry. In 1982, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from the Medical College of Virginia Dental School. Dr. Snyder practiced as a family dentist and taught children’s dentistry at the Dental School for three years. He attended The Eastman School of Dentistry/University of Rochester for two years where he was awarded a certificate of Orthodontics.

Dr. Snyder opened his practice in 1987 and has been practicing as an Orthodontist ever since. Dr. Snyder earned his Board Certification from the American Board of Orthodontists in 1995. Only 25% of Orthodontists ever attain Board Certification. He is also a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. His professional memberships include the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Virginia Dental Association, Virginia Association of Orthodontists, Patrick Henry Dental Society and the Roanoke Valley Orthodontic Study Club.

Dr. Snyder is married to Kim and they have three children. Dr. Snyder is active in many community organizations. He is one of the founders of the Piedmont Dental Clinic in uptown Martinsville and is currently vice-president of the Clinic’s Foundation. He was appointed to the State Board of Dentistry by Governor Warner and has served as vice-president. He is active in the Boy Scouts of America and attained the rank of Eagle Scout as a teenager. He enjoys the outdoors and has fun playing golf when he gets a chance.
